The place of the action
The fieldhockey field is very similar to a soccer field. It is slightly smaller. Usually hockey is played either on grass or turf.
The goal is smaller too. It is 2.14 m high and 3.66 m wide, but don't worry as the ball is also small scoring is possible.
To score you need to be in the half circle - the so called score circle - around the goal. Every foul inside the circle results either in a short corner or penalty.
There is a quarter line, but there is no such rule as offside.
On each team there are eleven players. Ten field players and a goalkeeper. Only the goalie in the scoring circle is allowed to play the ball with the feet. Field players can use the hockey stick only.
